The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has nominated Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Jodhaa Akbar' for its award in the Best Foreign Film category. Commenting on the nomination of the film for the British award, Girish Johar, associate vice-president of UTV Motion Pictures stated that the masterpiece, 'Jodhaa Akbar' has been honoured with various awards and BAFTA award will attach one more feather on the cap. UTV Motion Pictures was the co-producer of 'Jodhaa Akbar'.
Featuring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles, the film bagged the audience award as the Best Foreign Film at the 32nd Sao Paulo International Film Festival this year. Hrithik Roshan won the Best Actor award at the Film Festival of Muslim Cinema Golden Minbar in Kazan, Russia for his performance in 'Jodhaa Akbar'. The BAFTA award is scheduled to be held in London on February 8, 2009. The final nominations list for BAFTA will be announced on January 15.
Known as British Academy Film Awards the BAFTA awards recognise individuals and organisations who attain success in the field of film, television, television craft, video games and forms of animation. The prestigious awards are equivalent to Hollywood's Oscar Awards.
