Those having an interest in motor sport can keep an eye on the impending 11th JK Tyre National Racing Championship which will be held at Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, June 29. The JK championship had kicked off with Formula cars that incorporated 800cc Maruti engines. But since then it gradually developed into a full-fledged series by incorporating more robust Hyundai, Suzuki Swift and the Chevrolet formulae.

Formula Hyundai, however, lost steam and got eventually relegated to an endurance event, whereas the Swift and Chevrolet emerged out to become the training ground for motor sport talent. Infact all those Indians who are participating in the international Formula series such as Karun Chandhok, Armaan Ebrahim, Aditya Patel and Ashwin Sundar have been the products of this championship. Ashwin Sundar, 19, who hails from Chennai made his debut in the Formula Volkswagen German series this year. He too will be participating in the Sunday’s  JK Tyre National Racing Championship.
