The Jharkhand government is not giving permission to State Vigilance Department to lodge a complaint against a senior IAS official in a corruption case from past three years.

According to a Senior Vigilance Department official, the department is looking for permission from the State Government to lodge a First Information Report (FIR) against IAS officer, Alok Goel since June 2006, but the State Government always returned the file on basis of some clarifications. Arjun Munda was the Chief Minister at that time.

"We sent the file again clarifying our stand and sought permission in August 2008. And the third reminder was sent to the state government in November 2008. Till now, we have not received permission to lodge an FIR against Alok Goel," a senior official of the vigilance department told.

The official said: "We sought permission to lodge an FIR against Alok Goel after investigating the case. We have enough evidence to prosecute him".

Alok Goel is presently posted as “Additional Secretary” at the “Institutional Finance Department” of the Jharkhand government.

The charges on Alok Goel are of not submitting a voucher for the purchase of sofa sets and withdrawing the Travelling Allowance (TA) bill from the government treasury despite the fact that the travel was sponsored by an NGO.
