Jet Airways on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 announced that it has signed a codeshare agreement and frequent flyer partnership with UAE’s Etihad Airways. Mr. Naresh Goyal, Jet Chairman told media persons on Tuesday that Jet’s tie up with Etihad will create value and synergy for both the airlines. He further added that this agreement will help in boosting up their revenues and would facilitate air travel for the fliers.
The Chairman of Jet also revealed that his company is looking at introducing services of JetLite, a low-cost carrier to destinations in the Gulf and more routes in south-east Asia. The codeshare agreement is applicable between Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Abu Dhabi. Both the airlines will also honor the frequent flyer points of the other airline. Mr. Naresh Goyal diverting from the codeshare agreement also asserted that this year the aviation industry would loose Rs 9000 crore because of high oil prices.
