The civil aviation ministry has requested the management and pilots of Jet Airways to resolve the issues by talking it out, rather than posing trouble for the passengers. The states have also been required to look into the administrative action so that passengers do not suffer in future.

This Civil Aviation Secretary M. Madhavan Nambiar put forward this request after the pilots of Jet Airways failed to report for duty, causing the cancellation of some 200 Jet Airways & Jet Lite flights.

"Our view is very clear. We have said we'd like this to be solved. Both sides should come to the table," Nambiar told. He has also stressed the importance of invoking the Essential Services Maintenance Act.

When asked about government’s view on this issue, he answered that the issue was being probed by Directorate General of Civil Aviation as well as the aviation ministry.

"We will see what are the violations. These are matters that will be examined," he said. "Any act on the part of pilots that results in last-minute cancellation of flights and harassment of passengers will be treated as an act against the public interest."

He has also disclosed that Naresh Goyal, the chairman of Jet Airways, has sought the help from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation after he discussed the issue with S.N.A. Zaidi, the Director General of Civil Aviation.

"Jet Airways understands that the pilots are also meeting. They have to sort it out”, Nambiar added.
