The flights of Jet Airways as well as its subsidiary, Jet Lite had to be cancelled after the pilots shocked the authorities by going on mass casual protesting against the firing of their two colleagues. The air carried has commented this move of their employees as a “sabotage of operation”.

Since the National Aviators Guild had denied to go on strike, the pilots had to adopt this step to protest against the action taken by the air carrier authorities, which has caused the hampering of the entire operations for the private air carrier.

The Delhi airport authorities have confirmed that about 10 Jet Airways and JetLite flights have been cancelled due to the non-reporting of pilots for the duty. A major part of the p[passengers had to be accommodated on Air India and other flights.

The Jet Airways authorities have told that this step taken by the pilots is equivalent to going on strike.

“This organised activity is a planned sabotage of operations that will damage the airline’s operations and inconvenience the travelling public,” the statement said.

The National Aviators Guild (NAG), the pilots union of Jet Airways, on Monday, had called off its proposed strike against the management’s sacking of two senior pilots.

“Jet Airways is taking all steps to minimise the inconvenience to its guests. The airline will make all efforts to operate the maximum number of flights,” the statement said.

“However, we will try to accommodate our guests on alternate flights as some flights may have to be combined or cancelled”, it added.

Jet Airways had last month terminated the services of two of its senior most pilots, saying, “Their services were not required” after the duo along with others formed a trade union body in the company.
