India's leading private airline Jet Airways has struck a code sharing deal with Brussels Airlines of Belgium. While announcing the deal, Jet Airways said that the new move is being made to offer the passengers with convenient travel facilities. Belgium-based companies own 70 percent of share, while Virgin Express holds the rest of the stake in Brussels Airlines. Virgin Express belongs to British entrepreneur Richard Branson.
At present, Brussels Airlines of Belgium offers its services in 20 European countries and flies to over 50 destinations. The carrier also operates long-haul flights to eastern, central and western Africa. While commenting on the new code sharing agreement, Jet chief executive Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said that the tie-up will help both the airlines to strengthen and expand each other's network and services.
He added that the accord will give a new dimension as far as air travel on the Indo-European sector is concerned. Because of the agreement with Brussels Airlines, the Indian carrier will be able to expand its international network. There will be seamless connectivity between India and Europe.
The passengers will be offered with convenient connections between Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai in India and 12 European code-share destinations. The European destinations that come under the code sharing agreement include Birmingham, Barcelona, Lyons, Madrid, Berlin, Paris, Manchester, Hamburg, Marseilles, Toulouse, Geneva and Vienna.
