The chairman of Jet Airways Naresh Goyal has announced that Jet will reinstate all the 1900 sacked employees. Earlier this week, the company had fired 1900 employees to tackle the crisis in aviation industry. The Labour Ministry has appreciated the recent move of Jet Airways to take back its employees.
Although there has been denial of any political pressure, the lay-off evoked much criticism in political circles. In fact, Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) ordered the company to take back the laid-off employees immediately. The turned out employees of Jet Airways also showed their protest by holding a strike in Andheri, Mumbai, demanding their reinstatement.
Apologizing for the decision of lay-off, Naresh Goyal said that the decision was taken by Jet management without his consent. He said that the management had to take the decision owing to the prevailing financial condition of aviation industry. He urged all the sacked employees to join their services by October 18, 2008.
Mentioning the entire company as his family, Goyal stated that he felt very sad after firing all those employees. He is hopeful that from now onwards the entire family will work together and adjust to situation. The company has been going through a difficult condition owing to massive financial crisis in aviation industry. Recently the company has signed a code-sharing alliance with rival private carrier King Fisher.
