Naresh Goyal, the Chairman of Jet Airways, has disclosed that he will have to follow "the law of the land", if he has to decisions against the striking pilots. Meanwhile, he has requested them to solve the issue in a cordial way.
"(If) they don't follow company rules and procedures, I don't think we are left with any option and will follow whatever the law of the land is," Goyal told the CNBC TV18.
The pilots who have gone on strike have been asked by Goyal to follow the order of Mumbai High Court, failing which they will have to face the contempt of court charges.
The strike of the pilots of Jet Airways continued for the second day also,. Ablout 200 pilots had failed to report for duty and went on mass ‘sick’ leave to mark the protest for firing two other pilots.
On whether he would close operations, Goyal said, "I will not allow to be held hostage. Whatever has to be done, we will do it. I hope it doesn't happen.. There are 30,000 employees involved... it is the question their livelihood...",
He added, "I hope things go back to normal... that's my only request to people who are misleading... and go back to normal operations."
He added that he does not have any problems to hold discussions with the pilots to resolve the deadlock in an amiable way.
