Oscar winner "American Idol" cast-off Jeniffer Hudson is planning to release her debut album in the month of September. Her first single will be titled "Spotlight". The album is supposed to hit the U.S radio outlets in the month of June.

The song "Spotlight" is about insecurities within a relationship, and was composed by R&B songwriter and vocalist Ne-Yo who also co-produced the it along with the Norwegian production duo who is known as Stargate. There are some additional contributions in the album which includes Timbaland, Robin Thicke, the Underdogs, Diane Warren and Christopher Stewart.

SonyBMG will be releasing this debut album of Hudson under their label Arista Records. "Spotlight" will hit airwaves on June 9. The song will be made available for download as well, the next day. Hudson first gained attention as a contestant during the third season of American Idol, but she ended up as the sixth finalist who was voted off the show.

But she was undaunted by this failure. She came back and went on to land the role of Effie White in the movie adaptation of the musical "Dreamgirls", which is loosely based on the story of Motown act, The Supremes, for which she has also won a Golden Globe and Academy Award as the best supporting actress. Next, she appeared in the upcoming film adaptation of the HBO TV series "Sex in the City" and on its soundtrack as well, which hits U.S theatres on October 17.
