From 2-2 in the first set Wozniacki broke back once late in the second set but eventually lost the match. The US Open finalist must now wait for the result of the final White Group match between Victoria Azarenka and second alternate Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.
Jankovic said on court,"I didn't really know what to expect from her today. I saw what happened to her yesterday but I just concentrated on trying to win the match and get through to the semi-finals.”
"I tried to dictate the points and attack because I know how good she is in the long rallies."
Serena Williams, who topped the Maroon Group with three wins, already made it to the Saturday’s semi-finals .The the last two spots will be decided later.
Elena Dementieva with her victory over fellow Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova will enter semis but a Kuznetsova win would give chance to defending champion Venus Williams who is still in the frame.
