Serbian tennis player Jelena Jankovic, ranked as the world number two, overpowered her lesser ranked Ukrainian opponent Olga Savchuk 6-3, 6-2 to enter the 2008 Wimbledon Championships’ second round on Tuesday, June 24. The Serbian tennis ace Jankovic was the mixed doubles champion the previous year with Jamie Murray of Britain. But she is yet to crack the fourth round in the singles match at Wimbledon.
In her recent match against Olga Savchuk, Jankovic experienced a nearly hassle-free passage after she found her range with few brutal shots. While fellow Serbian player Anna Ivanovic has managed to secure her first Grand Slam title, Jelena Jankovic who is touted of almost being a woman now has just managed to reach the semi-finals in four of her last seven grand slams. This count includes the Roland Garros earlier this month.
