Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh won the $ 5 million Barclays Singapore Open title on November 16, 2008 and thereby bagged the Asian Tour Order of Merit title. The Indian golfer started the day five shots behind leader Chapchai Nirat of Thailand. But Singh reached the top of the leaderboard at seven-under par by executing three birdies on the front nine. Jeev Milkha Singh lifted the Singapore title with an aggregate of seven-under 277. This is the third title won by the ace Indian golfer in this year. Earlier he had won the Bank Austria Golf Open on European Tour and the Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup on Japan Tour.
Singh's opponents in the Singapore open golf tournament were Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els. Both Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington needed to birdie the final hole to force a play-off but Harrington could not sink the five foot putt while Els' 15-footer curled round the lip, much to Jeev's relief. After winning the title elated Singh stated that he played a competitive game in the finals of the tournament. According to him, both Els and Harrington played very well but luck favoured him. Wining the Singapore title will enable Singh to move back into the world's top-50.
