JCT managed a 1-0 win over ONGC in a quarterfinal group two league match of the 122nd Durand Cup football tournament played on Sunday.
Baljit Sahni scored the winning goal from a header in the 62nd minute after missing three sitters in the first half.
JCT should have won by a bigger margin, but striker Sahni missed too many chances. Sahni squandered the first chance in the 19th minute after he failed to put the ball into an empty net. Sahni once again got a chance after ten but failed to connect his header timely off Baldip Singh's cross and it went over the bar.
A few minutes later, Sahni had only ONGC goalkeeper Billy Fung Nazary to beat but his shot again lacked both power and direction.
Sahni, however, netted the goal with Jaspal Singh's free kick and his header went inside after a bounce.
In the last minutes of the game, Sahni got a chance to double the lead but instead of taking a shot he passed it to Balwant Singh.
