The state of Gujarat is likely to get two new cement plants having a total install annual capacity of six million tonnes. The mega cement plants will be set up by leading infrastructure industrial house, Jaypee Group. Apart from these, the company is also planning to come up with a greenfield project at Vayor village in Bhuj district, about 350 km from Ahmedabad. The cement pants will be handled by Gujarat Anjan Ltd (GAL) which is a subsidiary of Jaypee Cement Ltd (JCL). According to company sources, the cement project will be executed in two phases. The detailed information regarding the investment in the project has not been revealed by the company.
Besides these, Gujarat is also supposed to get two cement grinding units with a total annual capacity of 2.4 million tonnes. This two-phased project will also be handled by GAL. The two cement plants will be installed at Kheda and Kutch districts of Gujarat. Currently Jaypee Group has a turnover of over Rs.50 billion from its combined business of energy, infrastructure development, engineering and construction, real estate, hospitality and cement manufacturing. The setting up of so many plants in Gujarat is surely going to meet country's construction demand apart from generating employment opportunities in the state.
