Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad as the Director General of the board. A statement issued by PCB claimed that Miandad will join his office very soon by replacing former Pakistan Test pacer Saleem Altaf, who was re-designated as PCB's chief operating officer earlier this month. While taking to the media, the newly appointed DG expressed his happiness over getting a high post in PCB. He assured to work hard for the betterment of the Pakistan cricket team.
The 51-year-old former Pakistani player said that at the moment the Pakistan team is unable to deliver high class performance. According to him, the team needs to be motivated to maintain a good winning record. He assured to bring out the collective effort from the team members after taking his responsibility. Earlier, Javed Miandad was also offered the responsibility of mentoring the Pakistan cricket team, but he declined the offer.
The appointment of a shrewd Pakistani player in the board is likely to lift up the Pakistan team to improve its records. The inclusion of Miandad in PCB raised the number of former Pakistani players in the board to three. After the appointment of Ijaz Butt as PCB chief, major changes had taken place in the board which include the replacement of Jeff Lawson by former Pakistan captain Intikhab Alam as the national team coach.
