In the form of 56-year-old former defense minister Yuriko Koike Japan has got its first women prime minister candidate.TheJuly 15, 1952 born lady said that unless the system does not put more women in decision-making positions, the potential of Japanese women can't be fully realized. She said that she has got enthusiastic support from her colleagues.
 
Koike said that though she is not Mrs. Thatcher, she has clear policies, conviction for cause and sympathy from people. She wittingly said that contrary to Hilary Clinton's portrayal of US society as 'glass ceiling,' Japan has an iron plate. She knows what it takes to become prime ministerial candidate in male dominated Japanese politics.
 
However, political analysts say that Koike has been put as premier candidate for ruling Liberal Democratic Party wants a face savior. Admittedly, Liberal Democratic Party is already caught in quagmire of corruptions, scandals, resignations of two unpopular prime ministers and public worries about the economy.
