Apple has been ordered by Japan to produce a report on measures the company would take with respect to the cases of its iPod Nano music player. The order in this regard was issued on Wednesday.
The country’s industry ministry has issued the order following the accidents caused by the device. The device is reported to have caused six severe fire incidents. The ministry has asked the company to produce reports on both in Japan and out of the country market.
Many of such accidents have reported to have occurred due to overheating of the device. "Four people burned themselves after they touched the device, which had overheated during charging," an official from the Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry was quoted as saying.
The Japan’s industry ministry had ‘repeatedly asked Apple Japan to take market measures, such as giving warnings or recalling the products’.
The iPod Nano model was first introduced in 2005 replacing the iPod mini. By August 2008, about 17 incidents of overheating were reported to have occurred with the device.
