Ireland beat Bangladesh by 6 wickets and sent the Asian team out of the World Cup. Ireland won the toss and chose to field. Bangladesh was restricted to 137/8. Trent Johnston bowled a superb spell to restrict Bangladesh. He took 3 wickets, including that of Ashraful. 

Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never looked like taking the game away from Ireland. Mortaza showed some intent, scoring 33 off 16 balls and helping his team put up 137 runs on the board.

O’Brien brothers, Niall and Kevin played match-winning knocks to guide Ireland through to Super 8s. Man-of-the-match Niall scored 40 off 25 balls, while his brother hit a blazing 39 off 17 balls. Mortaza bowled well taking 2 wickets for 30 runs.
