The Iraqi parliament has finally approved the security agreement with US which   will help Iraq to send the US troops back to their nation. The security agreement between US and Iraq holds that the US troops will be withdrawn from Iraqi cities by the end of June, 2009 and from the rest of the country by the end of 2011. Besides it, Iraq's Council of Representatives approved a Strategic Framework Agreement with the US. According to a statement issued by US, the approval of the agreements mark the growth of Iraq's democracy and increasing ability to secure itself.

The main Shiite governing alliance with 130 seats supported the security deal.  Besides them, Kurdish parties with their 53 seats have offered their support. On the other hand, there were 35 opposing votes, including the 30 deputies of the anti-US Sadrist bloc of Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. The deputy speaker of parliament Khaled al-Attiyah expressed his delight over the passage of the security agreement by majority. He added that it has been a great achievement for the people of Iraq. The passage of the bill was already fixed but the Iraqi government decided to delay the vote in order to gain broader support in parliament beyond a simple majority.
