An unfinished result of the 18 provinces for the elections in Iraq was unconfined by the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on Sunday.

Maliki is leading in the constituencies of Baghdad and Basra. Maliki was also leading in the southern Shiite provinces of Najaf, Babi, Karbala and Muthana, along with Wasit.

The biggest competition of Maliki is the secular list of Iraqia led by Ayad Allawi who was the former Prime Minister. The Iraqia was leading in Tamim, Anbar, Nineveh, Diyala and Salahuddin.

Shiite cleric group’s Iraqi National Alliance led the Diwaniyah, Maysan and Dhi Qar. The northern provinces of Arbil, Duhuk and Sulaymaniyah were led by the Kurdish bloc.

It has been reported that Maliki and Allawi will give tough competition to each other. The Iraqi list reported about some scam in the elections on finding some marked ballot papers thrown away and also some secret ballot boxes were found.

62.4 percent turnout was made by Iraqis on March 7 among around 18 million suitable voters for casting their votes in about 8,920 polling centers countrywide.
