The Offshore Engineering and Construction Co of Iran has bagged a $210-million contract to repair Indian oil rigs. Informing about the contract, the deputy director for projects Nozar Aryan stated that as many as six Indian drilling rigs will be renovated by the Iranian company. The renovation project is expected to be started in October. The Offshore Engineering will accomplish the project in one year, informed Aryan.
 
The Iranian construction firm has earlier accomplished major projects in India including pipe-laying, renovating and repairing works. Apart from India, the company will be offering its services to Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Congo, Venezuela, and Guinea. It has also offered its technical and engineering services to Qatar and Egypt.
 
The Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) engages itself in designing, supplying, constructing and installing sub-sea pipelines and fixed process platforms. The company handles Middle East’s largest offshore fleet of specialized sub-sea pipe-laying vessel. IOEC is planning to expand its oil, gas and petrochemical activities to onshore and offshore operations.
