In a turn around of events, the United States has said that it didn't point at India while suggesting that India should use its influence to curb Iran's nuclear program. US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Richard Boucher said that the suggestion was blown out of proportion and was made a big issue than what it really was.
It is to be noted that US is strongly against the nuclear programs of Iran and has asked the oil rich nation to stop its program. Iran, on the other hand, said that its program is for peaceful purposes. Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to visit India in the next few days.
Washington, on Tuesday, said in a statement that it hoped India will use its influence on Iran to end its nuclear program. The statement received severe criticism from New Delhi and India made it clear that it knows how to handle bilateral relations with other countries.
