According to a news report flashed on Sunday (15th March), Irish Republican Army (IRA) terrorists are plotting to assassinate Britain's Princes William and Harry. Following this news, security cover for the princes has been stepped up. Scotland Yard fears that, the Princes are prize targets for IRA. The threat level has been upgraded following the murders of two soldiers and a police officer in Northern Ireland.

 

A media reported today (16th March) that, the number of close protection officers guarding the two royals on each shift has been increased. Media report quoted a source within the security services as saying that, the number of royalty protection officers has been increased from two to three and they are being reinforced by a back-up team of two.

 

The source also said that, William and Harry like to get about in London when they are not on duty and that makes them vulnerable. Both the princes are officers in the British Army. But Princes' bodyguards and the security agencies are concerned that even with heightened threat the princes want to live as normal as possible.
