The first Indian Premier League (IPL) is ready to be entitled the richest domestic cricket tournament of the world. The IPL is known to be offering a cheque of Rs 4.8 crore to the winner, whereas Rs 12 crore will be the complete prize money. The much-awaited and glammed-up cricket tournament that has got teams owned by film stars and business honchos, will initiate from 18th April onwards. In this cash-packed tourney, even the runner up will get to pocket Rs 2.4 crore, whereas the last pace finisher will get Rs 40 lakh.  

 

The IPL has allotted the prize money in such as way that even the two losing semi-finalist cricket teams will profit in Crores (Rs 1.2 crores) for their endeavor. This prize money will then get divided among other cricket teams. The team finishing fifth will receive Rs 80 lakh, whereas the sixth one will get Rs 70 lakh. The seventh finishing team on the league table will get Rs 50 lakh. Bollywood actor, Shahrukh Khan’s team Kolkata Knight Riders will play against businessman Vijay Mallya’s Bangalore Royal Challengers in the first IPL cricket match.
