Technology manufacturer Intel and Internet giant Yahoo have collaborated to bring the internet to TV screens through the Widget Channel. The Widget Channel is an interactive 'snippet bar' at the bottom of the TV screen that shows weather, news, sports scores, stock prices and Flickr photos among other things.

The user can customize their television screens with these options. The Widget Channel is one step towards the confluence of television with internet. In order to make the service compatible with an array of digital TVs and set-top boxes, the Intel is busy creating the hardware.

Through the television widgets, the consumers will be able to relish a variety of experiences like seeing videos, keeping a tab on their favorite stocks or sports teams, interacting with friends or staying abreast with the latest news and information.
