The Nasdaq-listed Intel Corporation’s venture capital unit, Intel Capital on Thursday, July 25 declared that it is going to invest $17 million in three Indian firms and added that it is confident about its investment prospects in the country. The three Indian firms which the Intel Capital has picked out for investments include online travel website Yatra.com, event-oriented social network BuzzInTown.com and advertising company, Emnet Samsara Media.

 

Commenting on this decision, the Intel Capital, President, Mr Arvind Sodhani, said, ‘We are rapidly investing in opportunities that we find suitable and are excited about investment prospects in the country.’ It is the $250 million worth Intel Capital India Technology Fund which is going to provide funds for investment purpose.

 

Mr Arvind Sodhani informed that the Intel Capital India Technology Fund has already invested $125 million in India, apart from also spending in technology firms. The Fund will also concentrate on alternate sources of energy. The VC unit invested about $640 million globally in 2007, Mr Sodhani revealed.
