Infosys Technologies May Pull Out From Bengal Too

The Singur protest is forcing all the major companies to rethink over the issue of making investment plan in West Bengal. After the Tatas it is the turn of Infosys Technologies, one of the leading software services exporters in India, to retreat from making investment in Bengal.
 
According to the director-HR, Infosys Technologies, TV Mohandas Pai, the company is keeping a vigilant look over the current situation in Bengal and also on Government’s inability to tackle the situation. Meanwhile, reports say the Infosys had planned to invest about Rs. 250 crore besides setting up a development center on the outskirt of Kolkata.
 
An estimated 5,000 people were supposed to be recruited by the company. But due to the unfriendly political and industrial climate of the state, the software services exporters are unsure over going ahead with their investment plan now. Pai said that the Singur row has created a fear in India.inc. However, the director of Infosys claimed the company is not pulling out officially. Apart from Infosys, Wipro had also been planning to make investment in Bengal.
