Inflation seems to be the most important concern for the Indian government these days. Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan showing his concern on the high rising inflation rate said that this is a major challenge for government. Also, he stressed that curbing high inflation rate and maintaining lower inflation rate is priority for his government, and government is trying its best in this regard too. Interestingly, inflation during the week ended June 28 touched a 13-year high of 11.89 percent.
Manmohan Singh, talking in a manner an economist would talk, said that this is not typical inflation; rather it is influenced by global factors. He added that government would try to lower down it and also, will try to maintain the current growth momentum. All his statements came in the aftermath of his interaction with media persons in New Delhi. He hoped that prices will come down in coming days, for government has taken certain steps in this regard. He did not say anything about the declining growth rate of industrial production which is at six-year low of 3.8 percent.
