The low-cost carrier IndiGo is the most punctual of all the scheduled flights for the month of June, beating bigger carriers such as Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines and Air India, according to official data released on Monday.
According to the official data released by Civil Aviation Ministry, IndiGo scored 87%, while Jet Airways was slightly behind at 86.4% and Kingfisher with 83%. National carrier Air India was way behind scoring 75.7%.
Paramount Airways, which topped the efficiency chart in terms of departures in May scoring 89%, was not included this time due to ambiguity in figures it had furnished, a ministry statement said.
"The overall on-time performance (OTP) of scheduled domestic airlines for the month of June 2009 has been 81.6% excluding Paramount Airways," the statement said.
Low cost carriers SpiceJet and MDLR Airlines were the least efficient, scoring 76.9% and 67%, respectively.
On the other hand, low cost carriers like GoAir and Jet's low-cost arm JetLite scored 83.4% and 80.4%, respectively.
The cancellation of domestic departures in June this year was 1.8%. But, the cancellation rate of Paramount Airways was the highest and well above the industry average at around 16%.
Jet Airways had the second highest number of flights cancelled, followed by MDLR, JetLite, Kingfisher and Air India.
