A marginal rise by 0.6 percent has been witnessed in the annual inflation rate of India for the week ended June 13. This information was released on 25th June, 2009, by the concerned officials.
The rate of inflation for the week ended June 13 had stood at - 1.14 percent which is actually against the minus 1.61% for the week ended June 6.
The index for primary articles showed a rise of 0.1 percent. There has been a rise of 0.4 % for fuel and power where as the manufactured products showed a rise in the rate of inflation by about 1%.
For the first time since the new wholesale price index (WPI) series started in 1995, India's annual rate of inflation had turned negative for the week ended June 6.
The inflation rate had become negative in the year 1977 when the first non-Congress government had taken the reigns of India.
The final data for the week ended April 18 showed that the revised annual inflation rate actually stood at 1.62 %.
