India's annual rate of inflation based on wholesale prices rose marginally to 0.92% for the week ended Oct 3 from 0.7% for the corresponding period last year
The official wholesale price index, as per the latest data, declined 0.5% during the week ended Oct 3 due to a fall of 1.4% in the index for primary articles, 0.1% for fuels and 0.2% for manufactured products.
Within primary articles, the prices of fruits and vegetables fell eight percent, maize by three percent, bajra two percent and tur dal one percent. Prices of mutton were higher two percent, while milk and urad dal became dearer by one percent each, showed the date released by the industry ministry.
Over a 52-week period ended Oct 3 the wholesale prices are up nearly 24% for onions, 17.79% for potatoes, 21.11% for vegetables, 15.6% for rice and 15.71% for pulses.
