According to sources, Indian submariners will be a part of the trial team which will be doing sea trials of the Russian nuclear submarine, which will be leased by India. The trials are scheduled to take place during the mid of September.
The sea trials of the Russia's Nerpa nuclear attack submarine, which had met with critical damage after it met with an accident in Nov 08, restarted on July 10, 09 in the Sea of Japan after spending about 160 million dollars to revamp the whole thing.
Indian Navy will take the submarine from Russia on a lease basis under the name of INS Chakra. Indian submariners will be taking a course along with the Russian specialists for conducting the sea trials.
They will subsequently operate on their own under the supervision of Russian instructors.
