An Islamic militant group 'Indian Mujahedeen' has reportedly claimed responsibility for New Delhi blasts where 30 people have been killed. There are more than 90 injured in the serial bomb blast. There were five bomb blasts in less than half an hour. Two of them were in the heart of Delhi in Connaught Place, and two at the upscale Greater Kailash M Block market in south Delhi.
The final bomb blast happened at the crowded Ghaffar Market in Karol Bagh. The Bomb Defusing Squad defused three bombs at different places. One of them at the popular Children's Park in India Gate was defused successfully. Indian Mujahedeen in an e-mail to India’s television network NDTV said that 'In the name of Allah, the Indian Mujahedeen has struck back again.'
Karnal Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police of Special cell (Delhi Police), said that the nature of explosives and bombs used are similar to those used in Jaipur and Ahmedabad. He said that chemicals were used along with nails and ball bearings and it was set off using electronic timers. The police are scanning CCTV footage of the GK I M block market and at Karol Bagh area to zero in on suspects.
