Despite India expressing concerns over US providing aids to Pakistan, George W. Bush, while talking at the HT Leadership Summit in Mumbai on Saturday, mentioned that India really wished that the US has "a friendship" with Pakistan.
"It is in India's interest that the US has a friendship with Pakistan," said the former US president.
He was answering the questions related to the financial aid provided by US to Pakistan, which has been speculated to be used for building a war machinery against Indian interests.
Bush mentioned that Pakistan had chosen US during an incident which happened after the 9.11 attacks, when it was asked to choose between the Taliban and the US.
Asserting that force alone can deal with such terrorists, Bush said: "I don't think you can negotiate with extremists."
"It's in our interest to stay engaged with Pakistan," he stressed.
