With the help of Diwakar Ram’s goal in the extra time of the game. India clinched the Junior Asia Cup defeating South Korea by 3-2, at Hyderabad. This was Diwakar’s 10th goal of the tournament. Earlier in the match, India was falling short of two goals till the first half of the game but in the later half of the game Indian Players showed faster movement and Diwakar Ram and Sunil S P scored one goal each for India. During extra time, Diwakar Ram converted penalty corner and India finally won the final of the tournament which was looking unlikely.

This Jr Asia Cup win has come at a crucial moment for Indian Hockey and will play an important role in boosting the overall hockey culture in the country. The news of India holding 2010 world cup hockey tournament was still in air and India’s juniors defeated South Korea in a closely fought final match.

Earlier in the match, South Korea seemed well on its way to win the final but a great teamwork and some splendid field hockey and finally Diwakar Ram's successful penalty hit changed the course of the match in India's favour. Two goals from Nam Hyan Woo of South Korea had set the victory momentum for his team but the dramatic comeback from Indian side proved wrong all the pre-set calculations. Incidentally, all the three goals for India came in second half of the game and were conclusive.
