The world’s fifth biggest automobile manufacturer, the Hyundai Motors which is worth $75 billion, has said that it is going to make India its international hub for small cars. This news was made public by the company's chief executive for the Indian market. Heung Soo Lheem, the MD of Hyundai Motors India Ltd said, 'We have a very clear picture about the Indian market. We want to use India as our small car hub. India will be used for manufacturing and export of our small cars.'

It was further informed by Heung Soo Lheem that Hyundai’s i20, which will get launched in September’s Paris Motor Show, will be solely manufactured in India. The Hyundai Motors sells its cars in as many as 193 markets across the globe. In November last year, the company introduced the i10 car in the A segment, which too is exclusively manufactured in India.

The Hyundai Company informs that the i20 is a hatchback sedan offering in the 'B' segment. Heung Soo Lheem also stated that this car will hit the Indian market in November, besides rejecting reports that Hyundai is going to phase out Santro and Getz after the i20 launch.

The South Korean automaker forayed into the Indian market 10 year also by launching Santro, which gets marketed as Atos in foreign markets. ‘When i10 was launched, it was tagged as a successor to Santro. We will continue to have the cars in our 'A' segment. Similarly, i20 is not a successor to Getz. We will strengthen our line-up giving more options to our customers,' the Hyundai India Ltd MD said.
