India has topped United Arab Emirates' foreign trade with a total of $4.9 billion, of which 29.7% come from non-oil exports. The non-oil foreign trade of the UAE has been reported to have witnessed a 42.4% growth in 2008.
The top 10 countries contributed 65.2 and 70.7 percent to the UAE's total non-oil exports in 2007 and 2008 respectively, while the rest contributed 34.8 and 29.3 percent.
The top 10 spots have been grabbed by Arab nations, five of which are part of Gulf Cooperation Council.
Egypt, with a contribution of 3.7% in 2008, grabbed the sixth position. Meanwhile, Kuwait had recorded a decline in the UAE exports.
When re-export is considered, the top 10 nations were 62.5% and 63.2% contributors to UAE re-export volume in the 2007 and 2008 years, with the net growth rate recorded at 28%.
The rest contributed 37.5 and 36.8 percent during the same period, with a total growth rate of 24 percent.
India topped the re-export list with a value of $10.4 billion and a contribution of 23.5 percent, with Iran grabbing the second with $6.1 billion and a contribution of 13. 8%.
Iraq retained third spot in 2008 despite recording a seven percent decline in re-export value.
