Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram and some top US officials met on Wednesday to discuss the reinforcement of the measures which are being taken by both the nations to defy terrorism, after the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
The officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New York Police Department and intelligence agencies in New York had given an overview of the counter-terrorism and intelligence measures to Chidambaram on Tuesday, after which he had a meeting with top officials in the Obama cabinet in Washington yesterday.
The home minister discussed the role of Pakistan in the Mumbai attacks and its non-action against the plotters on its soil with National Security Advisor General James Jones.
These issues were discussed by the Indian Home Minister with Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano and Attorney General, Eric H. Holder.
He met Senator Dianne Feinstein, leading the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence as well as the Congressman Sylvester Reyes, who is the House Select Committee on Intelligence’s chairman.
Chidambaram will have a discussion with the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton on Thursday, after which he will be addressing the media outlining the aim of his visit to US.
