India will play five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 international in Sri Lanka in the coming weeks to help recover lost revenue from cancelled events. Indian board officials finalized the series, to take place in late January and early February, after a meeting with their Sri Lankan counterparts in Colombo on Tuesday (13th January).
In a statement the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that, the itinerary of the tour will be finalized and released in a couple of days. The cash-rich BCCI reported a revenue loss of around $25 million from the postponement of last year's Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the scrapping of two one-dayers against England and this month's tour of Pakistan in the wake of the militant attacks in Mumbai late last year. They are also seeking to add a third test to their New Zealand tour itinerary in March and April.
