India defeated Canada to take a 5-0 lead in the seven-match hockey Test series. Shivendra Singh scored twice to give India a 3-1 victory against Canada at the match played at Tamanawis Park on Friday.
 
Shivendra scored in the 20th and 65th minutes, while the other goal was contributed by Sarwanjit Singh in the 54th minute. India has already taken an unassailable 5-0 lead in the series with one match drawn. They will play their seventh and last Test on Saturday.
 
The Indians missed as many as six penalty corners and an equal number of open field chances. But they also did not allow Canada any short corner with an alert and agile defence.
 
The Indian midfield comprising of Gurbaj Singh, Sardar Singh and Raghunath constantly created space for the forwards but Canadian defenders Fernandes, Adam Froese and Scott Sandison put up a firm resistance.
 
India took 1-0 lead in the 20th minute with Shivendra netting the goal. Canada scored the equalizer in the 47th minute .India stepped up the pace and Sardar Singh outwitted two defenders to give India 2-1 lead. Shivendra made it 3-1 for India five minutes before the game ended.
