Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will ink a deal with Russia, during his visit to Moscow in December, so as to ensure that the military and technical cooperation between the two nations is valid till 2020.
 
The protocol for the continuation with Inter- Governmental Commission for Military and Technical Cooperation was established during the three-day itinerary of Indian Defence Minister A K Antony to Russia.
 
The IGC-MTC had been initiated in 1998, with effect from 2000. This deal will expire in 2010. The protocol signed by Antony and his Russian counterpart Anatoly Serdyukov on Thursday so that the agreement for extending the deal till 2020 could be signed by the Indian Prime Minister in December.
 
"A protocol highlighting the various aspects of these projects was signed at the conclusion of the two-day IGC-MTC meeting. Both sides reiterated the commitment of the two governments to extend the ongoing programme of military technical cooperation for a further ten years, from 2011 to 2020," officials added.
