As the Maoists in Nepal look forward to forming the government, India too seems all geared up to do business with the former rebels in order to strengthen ties with a democratic Nepal. Sources from the Indian government have revealed that India’s ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Menon is in contact with the Maoists who still continue winning. It is learnt that Maoists have given India a green signal for talks, in order to pave way for enhanced relations between the two countries.
This indication from the Maoists came after it became apparent that India was not very comfortable with their success in the Nepal election. While stating that India was ready to do business with Nepal, Indian officials also pointed out that India has no reason to feel sad over the termination of the monarchy in the Himalayan nation. Instead, it was emphasized that India can profit from the termination of the Nepal monarchy that had been hole to its interests since long time.
