India will be a party to an unmanned mission to moon called Chandrayaan-1. According to reports, there are seven other members who are coordinating NASA in its effort for the exploration of moon, and India would be the next one in the row. There has been confirmation of the same from the spokesperson of ISRO S Satish.
According to S Satish a key pact was recently signed at a conference of International Lunar Users' Group at NASA's Ames Research Centre, and India had send Devi Prasad Karnik as its representative who also works as a space counsellor to the Indian embassy in Washington. Reportedly, the Chandrayaan-1, will take off anytime between October and December.
Evidently, other than India, other seven countries which are in the mission are Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, France and Britain. Interestingly, Japan has already launched an unmanned mission to the moon. However, Italy, Germany, and Britain as policy have decided to launch their own lunar mission independently soon.
