Owing to the arrest of several Indians in Pakistan, New Delhi has issued an advisory against travel to that country. According to an external affairs ministry spokesman several Indian citizens have been arrested in Lahore and Multan over the couple of days on charges of terrorism. Apart from this, the reports in Pakistani media also confirm the fact that the senior police officer in Lahore was aware of the arrest. The Indian external affairs ministry feels that the ongoing arrests of Indian nationals are being executed by other agencies in Pakistan that operate outside the law and civilian control.
Therefore, the Indian government has urged the Indian citizens to avoid traveling to Pakistan. A statement issued by the ministry of external affairs even said that it will be unsafe for the Indians to go to that nation or stay there. The relationship of the two nations suffered a massive setback after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed more than 170 lives. The tension between the two swelled up when India blamed that attackers had come for Pakistan.
Pakistan claimed to have arrested an Indian spy in Lahore on December 25. According to the Pakistani interior minister, the arrested person had confessed to planting a bomb that went off in the city killing a woman. The ministry also affirmed that the arrested man had disclosed the name of three other Indian spies. Pakistani police authorities are in search for Indian spies.
