The top brass of India Industry on Sunday (November 30) welcomed the decision of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh taking charge of the Finance Ministry after P Chidambaram was appointed Home Minister.

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Secretary General Amit Mitra said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, at the recent Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, had listed several initiatives including the fiscal measures like expenditure on infrastructure and now since the ministry has come under his charge Singh will implement the measures in a better manner.

Expressing confidence on Mr. Manmohan Singh, Mitra said that Singh was the only one in the government who had served as RBI Governor, Finance Minister, and Chief Economic Adviser.

Directly involving himself in tackling the impact of the global credit crisis on the Indian economy Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appointed a committee under his charge to find a way out of the economic challenges.

The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India Secretary General D S Rawat said that the "industrial confidence would get a boost" with the Prime Minister retaining the charge of the Finance Ministry.
