With an increase of 9.31 million subscribers in August, the net GSM subscriber base of India now stands at 335.5 million.
The report released by the Cellular Operators Association of India, the ruling body of GSM operators, Bharti Airtel has maintained its top position with an addition of 2.8 million subscribers in August. The net subscriber base of Bharti Airtel is now 107.9 million.
Vodafone has won the second position in the race with 2.19 million additions, with its subscriber base reaching 80.8 million.
The reports on the GSM subscribers of Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices have been published separately.
The government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has 1.3 million new subscribers whereas the Idea Cellular has added 1.5 million subscribers in August.
In terms of market share also, Bharti Airtel leads the race with at 32.19% followed by Vodafone at 24.11%. BSNL comes third with 15.5% whereas Idea has got a market share of 14.%9.
New telecom operators like Aircel occupied 7.28 percent market share.
