Officers from India will fly down to Finland coming August to ink a bilateral air service deal that will result in boosting the capacity between the two nations. Presently, it is the Nordic carrier Finnair that connects Finland to India. As per the information provided by a reliable source, it is expected that this bilateral air service deal between India and Finland will be signed in August or by the latest in September.
At present, the Finnair runs 12 daily flights to Delhi and Mumbai from Helsinki. One more will be added to the Mumbai list in the first week of June. But once this bilateral air deal is inked, it will give a green signal for the operation of 14 flights a day from each side. The bilateral air deal between India and Finland was modified in May 2006. It is expected that an increase in the air capacity between the two will translate into enhanced trade. In 2007, the trade between Finland and India grew by 31.54 per cent to 645.09 million in 2007.
