Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi mentioned on Monday that Indian government and The European Union are working towards the signing of a Labour Mobility Partnership agreement.
Ravi, who had been on a European Union tour, arrived in India on Saturday. He mentioned that the deal which has been inked between India and Denmark on Labour Mobility Partnership last week would "enable Danish industry and business to recruit Indians on the fast track’.
There was an urgent demand for 1,500 nurses in Denmark, he said.
"This agreement will be replicated with other nations and the government is currently working to sign it with the European Union," Ravi told reporters.
He mentioned that even though India had been "Gulf centric" it is now ready for diversifying workers to the nations of the European Union.
"We want an orderly and legal migration of skilled workers to the European Union," he said, noting the EU countries were facing a shortage of workforce.
