Helped by a brilliant 18 ball 41 knock by Yuvraj Singh and a superb bowling effort from Pragyan Ojha, team India began their twenty20 title defence in a convincing style by defeating Bangladesh on Saturday.
First it was Yuvraj who dazzled with the bat and later Pragyan Ojha spun a web around Bangladesh team to help India past the minnows Bangladesh by 25 runs.
Pragyan Ojha bowled superbly in his maiden T20 international to push Bangladesh on the back foot. Ojha's 4-wicket haul broke Bangladesh's back as the underdogs finished at 155 for eight, which largely revolved around Junaid Siddique (41) and Naeem Islam (28).
Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bat first. Gautam Gambhir (50) and Rohit Sharma (36) began in style and gave India a rollicking start but after the departure of Rohit Sharma, the run rate slowed down as MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir relied largely on singles.
Things suddenly changed when Yuvraj came to bat after Dhoni was bowled out. Yuvraj changed the complexion of the match in just two overs and scored a violent 18-ball 41 that propelled the score to a decent 180 for five. Yujraj hit 4 sixes and three fours in his knock of 41 runs.
